Kishwaukee Cancer Care Center provides advanced diagnostic and treatment options include the most current chemotherapy regimens., Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) and traditional radiation therapy is available at Illinois Regional Cancer Center.

Mammography, colonoscopy and low-cost annual prostate screening tests are readily available, along with support groups and educational services to help patients and their families deal with cancer’s affect on their lives.   • Cancer Education including staging, diagnosis and treatment options. Options are explained in detail to assist you in making the best decisions about your care and treatment choices.
  • Help in arranging second opinions at other tertiary institutions for patient’s comfort or for complex medical diagnoses. If it is medically appropriate, we will follow treatment protocols recommended by other oncologists so that you can receive care close to home.
  • All chemotherapy is mixed by pharmacists with adherence to strict quality guidelines
  • Prevention of chemo-associated nausea, fatigue, infection and diarrhea typically need frequent visits to the center. Local care which is easily accessible is very helpful in order to avail this preventative care
  • Over the phone support by qualified cancer chemotherapy trained nurses

  • Cancer Education is provided including staging, diagnosis and treatment options. Options are explained in detail to assist you in making the best decisions about your care and treatment choices.
  • Help in arranging second opinions at other tertiary institutes for patient’s comfort or for complex medical treatments
  • The IRCC provides the same state of the art outpatient radiation therapy treatment used at medical centers in Chicago, Madison and Mayo Clinic.
  • Treatment options include Smart Beam IMRT a revolutionary simulation process that allows diseased tissue to be viewed from any angle, for precise administration of radiation, sparing as much healthy tissue as possible.
  • IRCC helps patients with pre-certification of testing and assists patients with collections of unpaid balances by their insurance companies to eliminate the need for patient involvement in these complex procedures.
  • Patients are referred to the IRCC by their primary care physician for evaluation and determination of appropriate treatment. Ask your physician if you would like to receive quality care close to home.

C.A.R.E. Support Group

C.A.R.E., Courage, Attitude, Resources & Encouragement is a support group for those with cancer or serious illness including patients and their family members. Our professionally facilitated groups are held at no charge to participants. Our goals are to:

  • help you learn positive coping skills
  • help you understand normal emotional reactions
  • help you identify your strengths
  • encourage you to find hope and joy on this difficult journey

Meets the first & third Thursdays of every month, 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Kishwaukee Health Care Building, 2727 Sycamore Road, DeKalb.

Women undergoing cancer treatment receive free make-up and hair loss tips as well as information on wigs and accessories. Each participant receives a complimentary make-up kit.
